Northland / Te Tai Tokerau is rich in natural resources and cultural heritage, boasting a unique subtropical climate, which when combined with one of the world's most beautiful coastlines, provides the regional economy with a natural advantage.
The warm climate and vast coastline mean the region is ideal for tourism, forestry, agriculture, aquaculture and manufacturing sectors.
With a large rural population, access to markets remains a challenge, and Kānoa – Regional Economic Development has made significant investments to improve rail infrastructure so the region is better linked to its customers so it can grow economically.
Te Tai Tokerau Northland Economic Action Plan brings together over 60 different projects and initiatives and Kānoa is already helping to get these projects off the ground.
